If you are new to retailing or aren't already a
retailer then finding the right location for your new business can
be daunting. We have detailed below the basic specification of what
you need to be looking for when finding the right property and
location.
If you know what town or area you would like to have your business
then you need to begin looking at what is available.
The Location
Ideally it needs to be in a busy location, for example a high
street, main street, shopping mall or post office.
You need to ensure that there is a lot of foot fall in the
area.
Look at what other brand names are in the area. The more brand
names there are the better the location.
The Property
The overall size of the unit is ideally 1000sq ft. However
don't disqualify a unit that may be slightly less.
You need to allow 90sq ft for a stock room.
Ideally you need water and electrical supply on the sales
floor.
The internal floor of the shop needs to be level (or at least
minimal difference) with the external pavement.
Air conditioning is desirable. However if no air-condition you
will need some exposed wall areas or roof area for air-conditioning
units and connections.
There are letting agent websites available on line for you to begin
searching for property.
Once you feel you have found a suitable location(s) then get in
