It is Thorntons mission to deliver Chocolate Heaven to the world. As a result, we aim to deliver the best possible customer experience, and we adhere to and if possible, exceed all current and proposed legislation in addition to trade body guidelines.

The conditions detailed below do not affect your statutory rights according to UK law. These include all of the current guidelines relating to the information that we hold about you, and in order to clarify this we have a published Privacy Statement.
 
  • Definitions

    Thorntons Direct is operated by Thorntons plc (registered number 00174706) of Thornton Park, Alfreton, Derbyshire, DE55 4XJ. If you need to contact us please use our contact form.

  • Products

    Product and packaging are subject to change or substitution without prior notice. If necessary we will substitute for an equal or higher priced item directly as the majority of our orders are time critical and we may not have time to contact you. If time is available we will attempt to contact you. All of our floral bouquets are seasonal in nature and again we reserve the right to substitute them for an alternative bouquet of equal or greater value.

  • Create Your Own Hamper

    Number of products per hamper box is a guideline only; we reserve the right to place products that do not fit in an outer outside of the hamper box. Not all products will fit in all hamper box sizes. I.e. Wine will not fit in the small hamper box. Multiple dispatches are not available for the ‘create your own hamper’ gifts online although you can call our call centre if you require a multiple dispatch on 0845 121 1911. We will deem that if ordering a ‘create your own hamper’ gift that all products you enter into your basket are for inclusion within this gift and where possible will be included as such with in your chosen hamper box.

  • Age Restriction

    Products containing bottled alcohol are only available for purchase or supply to persons over the age of 18. You will be asked to confirm this during the order process - this forms part of our contract of sale.

  • Payment

    We accept payment by Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Maestro. All orders are positively credit card sanctioned prior to dispatch, so please ensure that the details you provide us with are correct. We require you to supply the registered address of the credit card holder which is used to validate your order with your credit card company. We cannot accept responsibility for an order being held back as a result of incorrect or invalid payment details being given.

    The total value of your order will be displayed on the order confirmation screen. The displayed price is the amount in pounds sterling, If you are ordering from outside the UK, the appropriate exchange rate will apply.

    Our Website contains a large number of products and it is always possible that, despite our best efforts, some of the products listed may be incorrectly priced. We will normally verify prices as part of our dispatch procedures prior to acceptance of an order. If a product's correct price is higher than the price stated on our website we may at our d iscreation reject your order without liability to you and notify you of such rejection.

    We are under no obligation to supply products to you at an incorrect (lower) price, even after we have sent you an order preparation confirmation, if the pricing error is obvious and unmistakeable and could reasonably have been recognised by you as a mis-pricing.

  • VAT Receipt

    All prices include VAT at the appropriate rate, (currently 17.5%). If you are eligible to reclaim this sales tax, on request we can supply you with a VAT receipt

  • Corporate Orders

    We reserve the right to amend delivery charges where necessary for corporate orders placed via the website. The website delivery options are for consumer orders which do not exceed standard delivery costs. Additional costs will apply where a large number of items are ordered or where delivery to multiple addresses is requested.

  • Consumer Protection

    In the unlikely event that your payment card is used fraudulently to make a purchase with Thorntons Direct, you are entitled to cancel the said payment(s). If payment has already been made, you are entitled in accordance with the standing Consumer Protection Distance Selling Regulation (2000), to a re-credit or to have all sums returned to you by the card issuer.
