The Art Of The Chocolatier
From our humble beginnings and our very first shop in Sheffield in 1911, it's always been our aim to create the finest chocolate and confectionary.

One of the things we're famous for is our variety of delicious chocolates. Even to this day, our Master Chocolatier is totally devoted to discovering new recipes and flavours to delight anyone with a love of chocolate, toffees, fudges and sweets.

So we thought we'd share some of his knowledge to help you enjoy Thorntons even more. Spend a little time learning the rich history of chocolate, find out how it's made and be surprised by the health benefits of chocolate.

Then if you want to take your taste buds to new heights, spend a moment reading our Master Chocolatier's notes on eating chocolate.

Chocolate stirs up the emotions like no other food. Since it's discovery, we have used it to articulate our feelings, soothe our bodies and minds and celebrate a wide array of social occasions.

The cacao tree is a tropical evergreen plant and was christened Theobroma Cacao during the eighteenth century by the Swedish botanist, Linnaeus.
