What is Thornton's policy on genetically modified ingredients?
Thorntons do not use genetically modified ingredients.

Is Thornton's ice cream pasteurised?
The law states that all ice cream must be heat treated to destroy all harmful bacteria. The egg is also pasteurised before it is added to the ice cream mix.

Do you sell any products free from additives or 'E' numbers?
No, not all additives/E numbers cause adverse reactions. Indeed we could not survive without some of them in our food for example vitamin C has an E number, as has the air that we breathe.

This product says it doesn't contain nuts, but the packaging warns it may contain nut traces. Why?
In some cases, products containing nuts are produced on the same production line as those without nuts. Whilst strict cleaning schedules are carried out there is still a possibility that nut traces can enter these products

Do Thorntons chocolates contain caffeine?
Caffeine is naturally present in the cocoa bean. It is not an ingredient added by us. It is at its highest levels in milk & dark chocolate. Generally white contains the lowest amount.

Why isn't Thorntons dark chocolate guaranteed milk/lactose free?
During production dark chocolate uses the same pipelines as milk chocolate. Despite the fact that a strict clean down procedure is followed after each product there is still a chance for cross contamination to occur

I suffer from Coeliac disease. What products are suitable for me to eat?

I have high cholesterol. What products would be suitable for me?
Offer a dark chocolate - something like the Apricot Parfait would be ideal.

What is the difference between Classic, Continental & Eden?
Classics is a typically English range of alcohol free chocolates packed with family favourites suitable for vegetarians; unlike the Continental range of rich, lighter chocolates inspired by European cuisine. Eden is also a lighter range of tempting chocolates. But all three ranges are made from the same high quality ingredients.
